Toledo, OH – Margaret Lockhart, a partner in Cooper & Walinski, was honored this week with the Arabella Babb Mansfield Award. Given by the Toledo Women's Bar Association, this prestigious award honors a woman attorney of outstanding professional and personal achievement. The award is named for Arabella Babb Mansfield of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa who in 1869 became the first woman lawyer in the United States. 

Ms. Lockhart’s nomination recognized her leadership in one of the region’s most prominent private law firms.  Ms. Lockhart has been President of Cooper & Walinski for the past five years.

Ms. Lockhart practices in the areas of labor and employment law, commercial litigation, insurance coverage litigation, and school law. She is an OSBA certified specialist in employment and labor law.  She has tried cases in both state and federal courts and before state and federal administrative agencies. She frequently lectures on labor and employment law topics.  She carries Martindale-Hubbell's AV rating and has been listed in annual editions of Ohio Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America.

Ms. Lockhart served for ten years as a judge pro tem of the Perrysburg Municipal Court. Before joining the Cooper & Walinski, Margaret served as law clerk to the Hon. Robert E. DeMascio, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
